FAQ

Are Signostar products suitable for outdoor use?

We manufacture all letterings, house numbers, and stainless steel letters from high-quality V2A stainless steel (Nirosta). All our products are 100% rustproof and fit for permanent outdoor use. Don't just take our word for it – there is a 10-year guarantee on all of our products.*

How thick is the material of the lettering?

We manufacture lettering up to 80cm wide as well as house numbers and stainless steel letters up to 50cm high from 2mm thick steel. We use 3mm thick steel for wider lettering as well as higher house numbers and stainless steel letters.

How should I mount my lettering / my house number?

Threaded bolts

Choose threaded bolts to mount your lettering, house number, or stainless steel letter on brickwork or insulated walls as well as on wood or stone.

The bolts are welded to the back of the product. Depending on the measurements of the product they have a metric thread M3 with a length of 30mm or M4 with 40mm and can be stuck into dowels or glued directly into drill holes. We recommend you to use silicone or mounting adhesive. Alternatively, the bolts can be fastened with threaded nuts.

Threaded bolts enable you to leave a gap between the lettering / house number and the surface underneath. This results in an elegant 3D drop shadow effect.

Self-bonding

Choose self-bonding letterings, house numbers, or stainless steel letters for smooth surfaces such as doors, letter boxes, vehicles, glass, or flat walls as well as for lacquered surfaces. A strong mounting tape is fixed to the back of the product. The bonding is weatherproof and long-lasting.

No mounting

Upon request we deliver your order without mounting.

What size should my lettering be?

For the right size consider the distance from which the lettering or the letters should be readable.

The rule of thumb is:

Distance in metres = Height of the letters in centimetres

For example, if the reading distance is 10m choose a minimum font height of 10cm.
For labellings that are supposed to be read from close proximity, for example nameplates on letterboxes, we offer a minimal font height of 1cm.

What size should my house number be?

Usually, house numbers near the front door should be recognizable from a distance of up to 10m. In that case we recommend a height of at least 20cm.

For larger distances choose a height of 30cm or more. We offer house numbers up to 70cm.

Are further typefaces available?
